Reconnect

The Reconnect Program is a service that assists street involved youth and youth who are at risk of being on the streets. The program offers information, provides referrals to longer term resources, and supports youth in making positive and healthy choices.

PROGRAM FEATURES

Reconnect Workers can ALWAYS:
  • Listen to your story.  Whatever it is, we will listen to you and help you figure out what your options are;
  • Get you help for alcohol or drug use;
  • Access information for you on services available in the community;
  • Get you access to free condoms and information on sexuality and safe sex;
  • Help you communicate better with social service professionals;
  • Help you figure out what housing options are available to you.
The Reconnect Program provides:
  • Surrey based street outreach
  • Flexible hours of operation
  • Meaningful "One to One" support
  • Referral to other community agencies when appropriate including: alcohol and drug programs, crisis counseling, independence or life skills training
Length of Service:
The length of service is based on participant needs.

Hours:
Hours are flexible to accommodate the needs of the youth.

ACCESS

A helping service professional or the client will make the referral to Pacific Community Resources' Reconnect Program.

Mobile Youth Outreach (MoYO) Program

The Mobile Youth Outreach (MoYO) Program is a youth engagement program uniting multiple community partners to engage youth in their environment, offering resources and opportunities that foster meaningful community connections. The MoYO team travels in a Mobile Youth Resource Centre – The MoYO bus – and stops at parks, recreation centres and neighbourhood hubs where youth can access the MoYO services and join in MoYO activities. The purpose of MoYO is to connect with and empower youth while providing resources and building relationships.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- Participants are referred to the program by helping service professionals, or they can self-refer;
- Female and Male youth ages 13 to 19;
- Youth who are disconnected from mainstream services and/or their families;
- This program serves the City of Surrey.  For similar services south of 48th Avenue, please consult Crescent Beach Community Services at (604) 538-5060

WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN THIS PROGRAM?
In 2009, the majority of the youth served reported that they had greater connectedness to services, community, school and/or family at time of discharge.
