Day, Evening, Weekend for Youth (DEWY)

This program helps young people reduce or abstain from substance use through individual and group counselling and activities.

DEWY assists youth aged 13 to 18 who are working to overcome addiction issues. The goal of the program is to help youth reduce or abstain from substance use through individual and group counselling and activities.

Program Features

  • Structured individual and group treatment services that will enhance the youth’s motivation to change from problematic use to reducing or abstaining from substance use
  • Allows for continuous intake, Core Program is Tuesday to Friday from 1:00pm-5:00pm with periodic “Drop In” weeks; requesting minimum attendance of 6 hours per week.  Program completion is 60 hours of group work/activities.
  • Serves youth in the Fraser Health region; our programs are accessible via transit

Youth who are:

  • Aged between 12 to 19
  • Have been to an alcohol and/or drug service provider
  • Currently have stable housing
  • Want to change substance use and/or are worried about relapsing
  • Are able to get to and from the program

How To Apply

Referrals are accepted from Substance Use Counsellors (Fraser Health direct service and contracted service providers, including Creekside Withdrawal Management), Youth Concurrent Disorders Therapists, and Fraser Health Early Psychosis Intervention program therapists, as well as  the following non-substance use providers (child and youth mental health therapists, social workers, clinical counsellors, and school counsellors) who agree to function as the case manager for the youth.

There are two types of forms:

Referrals for Non-Substance Use Service Providers

Once completed referrals have been received by email, they will be forwarded to the Fraser Health Screening Committee for review. Once screened, DEWY staff will contact the youth directly to set up an intake meeting.
