Immigrant Youth Outreach Program

IYOP supports immigrants and refugees aged 15 to 25 living in Surrey, North Delta and Langley. We help young people develop the essential skills and knowledge required to meet their future employment, education, training and volunteer placement.

 ESL Assessment & Conversational Support Workshops:
  • One-to-one private tutoring
  • Lessons are custom-fit to reach your English learning goal
  • Oral & Written English level assessment
  • Educational field trips are incorporated while learning English
  • Lessons are scheduled as needed with your tutor
  • Friendly & knowledgeable staffs    

Douglas College Essential Skills

The Workplace Skills Coach, will assist you to identify, develop, and utilize your essential skills.  Essential Skills are a group of skills that have been identified through research as the skills people need to be successful in work, learning and life.  At the IYOP program, we offer Essential Skills programming through:

  • Workshops, one-on-one consultation, or group sessions
  • Formal and informal assessments to identify your current skills levels
  • Follow-up on assessment results in relation to your current and future career goals
  • Skills enhancement to prepare for success in training, education, and the workplace

Volunteer Facilitators Wanted

The Immigrant Youth Outreach Program (IYOP) is looking for facilitators who would like to gain some experience and contribute to the community. Schedule your own time and topic that will be relevant to immigrant youth aged 15 -25.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- Aged between 15 to 25,
- Arrived in Canada within the last five years,
- In need of enhancement support,
- Living in Surrey, North Delta & Langley,
- New immigrants, permanent residents & refugees
-Not attending or at-risk of dropping out of full time education
-Unemployed or under-employed.

8:30 - 4:30
