Inter-Agency Education Programs- The Inter-Agency Education Programs include the TREES, LINKS, KEY and AGE Programs. These programs combine academic programming with recreational activities with individual, group and family counselling services. These programs are delivered in partnership with the Surrey School District. ASTRA Drug and Alcohol - The ASTRA program assists youth who have demonstrated problems with alcohol and/or drug use. The goal of the program is to move targeted youth towards reducing or abstaining from all problematic substance use. FYI - This program assists families to have strong and comprehensive care teams engaged in meeting the needs identified by the family. It provides consultation to community services to enhance knowledge of the effects of FASD. Please contact the program's social worker to arrange consultation appointments. Immediate Response Program - Provides brief intervention counselling for youth and their families to improve family functioning. The overall objective is to enable families to live together successfully. Independent Living Skills/Next Steps - This service is delivered by OPTIONS and it assists youth working toward independence, on underage income assistance, and youth experiencing difficulty in their family setting. Kinnections - Kinnections is a youth mentorship program to assist youth aged 15 - 19 and under the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development, in their transition to adulthood. Kinnections looks to identify an adult who has once been, or is currently, involved in the youth's life (a previous sports coach, teacher, youth worker, extended family member or an idividual whom the youth trusts) that may be in a position to act as a mentor. Where this is not possible, Kinnections connects youth with an appropriate adult volunteer from a pre-screened list of volunteers based on personality, common interests, and life experience. Kinnections is offered by Pacific Community Resources Society in the Surrey, Delta, Langley and White rock areas and is currently welcoming volunteers in these areas who are willing to share their time with a youth. Kinnections hopes to have long lasting mentorship matches with the mentor making regular contact in activities they enjoy. We look forward to hearing from you contact us at Guildford Youth Resource Centre, 604 587 8106. Check us out at www.mcf.gov.bc.ca/foster/kinnections.htm Parents Together Program - Offers support groups to parents experiencing power struggles and conflict with their teens. Those groups are facilitated and structured so that the issues of most concern to the parents are discussed and problems solved. Parents learn from each other, support each other, and celebrate their successes together. Prevention - The goal of the prevention program is to reduce the likelihood that youth will start using substances and slow the rate at which alcohol and other drug problems develop among youth within the community. Reconnect - Reconnect is an outreach service that provides information, referrals and support to youth who want to connect to services, community and/or family. Resource Room (drop-in) - Provide a walk-in, youth friendly environment to allow youth to access a range of referral and information services. This is also an opportunity to check out the other services available at the centre and self identify services that would be helpful. SEY (Stop Exploiting Youth) - The SEY Program supports youth to exit a situation or lifestyle in which they are being sexually exploited. STAR (Supported Transition and Roommate Program) - This program integrates housing, life skills and support services. Staff link youth with other youth who are seeking housing in the Surrey area. Surrey Youth Housing Program - Offer one to one support to youth to secure and maintain housing. The program also works with local landlords to secure safe, affordable housing specifically for youth. TILT - This program assists youth who are transitioning to independent living. It integrates housing, support skills and life skills. Youth Justice Services - These programs are offered to youth who are involved in the justice system providing support and supervision of court orders.
