Eagle High

Eagle High, an off site component of the

Broadway Youth Resource Centre, is a special education/counselling program for 30 high needs grade 8 to 10 students who require a greater level of support than regular high school or other alternate programs offer.  The program integrates an academic component with individual and group counselling, recreation, and cultural activities.

Program Features

  • Modified grades 8 through 10
  • Integrated accredited academic program with individual and group counselling, social, recreation and cultural activities
  • Combination of one-to-one tutoring and group instruction to accommodate students with a wide range of academic ability and skill development
  • We avoid using a lecture format except during brief “mini-lessons” to introduce concepts and/or information
  • Goal meetings and peer group work to promote clarification of values and responsible decision-making.  All participants in the school work together to reach agreed upon goals and the progress on that work is reviewed each week
  • Recreation activities include: art, camping, a ‘Breakfast Club’ and lunch program to encourage attendance and participation

Who is Eligible?

  • Youth aged 13 to 18 years
  • Most referred students have experienced a number of significant school difficulties and may have been out of school for a period of time
